How Can You Start Doing Parkour?

To start your parkour journey and enter a wonderful world where the impossible becomes possible, you must first build a strong foundation of strength and agility through consistent bodyweight exercise. While seeking guidance from an experienced traceur is the best way to ensure you follow the correct path, you can also begin training on your own by mastering basic movements like the safety roll and precision landings. By prioritizing these fundamentals and developing your physical conditioning first, you will gain the necessary skills to safely progress toward more challenging and advanced maneuvers.

Some Of The Most Common Parkour Moves

  • Speed Vault: A one-handed vault where the body stays parallel to the ground while jumping over an object.

  • Kong Vault: Diving forward, placing both hands on the obstacle, and pulling the legs through between the arms.

  • Lazy Vault: Approaching at an angle and using one hand to swing the legs over the obstacle in a seated fashion.

  • Precision Jump: A controlled jump from one point to land and "stick" accurately on a small or narrow target.

  • Wall Run: Running up or along a wall to reach a higher ledge or bypass an obstacle.

  • Cat Leap / Arm Jump: Jumping toward a vertical surface and catching the top edge with your hands while your feet absorb the impact against the wall.

  • Tic-Tac: Kicking off a wall to gain height or change direction to overcome another obstacle.

  • Climb-Up: Moving from a hanging position to standing on top of a ledge.

  • Two-Foot Landing: Landing softly on the balls of the feet with knees slightly bent.

  • Parkour Roll: A diagonal shoulder roll that converts vertical downward impact into forward horizontal momentum.
