What is Spirituality?
Spirituality is the deeply personal, internal process of seeking meaning, purpose, and a sense of connection to something larger than oneself, whether that be a higher power, the collective human experience, or the natural rhythms of the universe. Unlike organized religion, which often relies on external structures, shared dogmas, and communal rituals, spirituality is an individual journey centered on the cultivation of the inner self and the exploration of the "sacred" in everyday life. It involves a conscious effort to move beyond the material world—transcending the ego and physical desires—to reach a state of greater awareness, compassion, and peace. This path is frequently marked by practices like meditation, deep reflection, or acts of selfless service, all aimed at aligning one’s daily actions with a set of core values. Ultimately, it is the pursuit of wholeness, helping a person navigate the complexities of suffering and existence by grounding them in a reality that feels both timeless and infinitely significant.
